Students‘ Day 2025

On May 23, 2025, Fraunhofer IAF opened its doors for the annual Student Day, offering students exciting insights into the institute’s diverse research areas. The day was marked by great interest, informative expert presentations, and impressive tours of laboratories, the cleanroom, and the MOCVD hall.

“I’m particularly pleased that a large group from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences joined us this year. The students’ motivation and strong interest in our research show that our work remains relevant and exciting for the next generation. Student Day is a great opportunity to showcase our projects and developments,” emphasized Dr. Jutta Kühn, Deputy Director of Fraunhofer IAF.

Highlights of the event included guided tours through the microelectronics, laser, and diamond technology labs, as well as visits to the cleanroom and the MOCVD hall. One student from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences shared his impression: “The large cleanroom left a lasting impression on me. The way the equipment works and the high level of technology were completely new and truly fascinating.”

In addition, Student Day offered numerous opportunities to learn about career paths at Fraunhofer IAF. During a panel discussion with master's students and doctoral candidates, participants had the chance to ask specific questions about thesis projects and career entry.
