Energy-efficient voltage converters

The semiconductor gallium nitride increases efficiency and saves a considerable amount of energy. The electronic devices and systems are smaller, more powerful, and more cost-effective than traditionally used solutions. The Fraunhofer IAF develops electronics based on gallium nitride which will find applications in voltage converters for automotive engineering and energy technology, and which can replace transformers in household appliances.
